Contract Administrators Online Interview Series

CAO has been on the web for about a year with the intent of building a list of Contract Administrators. There is no such list currently and many practitioners are not registered professionals and do not appear in any directories, online or offline. We believe that identifying contract administrators and describing their work is a useful activity and could lead to interesting exchanges in the forum.

In our year of existence we have had only 18 postings, but a respectable 300-400 hits per week. The posting include a head hunting firm, some international design firms and a couple of government agencies. It is said, activity on a website draws visitors back, hence our plan. We will post an interview with a contract administrator at the rate of one per week, and a new article every month. The first profile is now available, and a new article will appear soon.

The standard set of questions for the interview are as follows:

• How did you get started in contract administration?
• Where does your approach to the work come from?
• Who influenced you the most, or gave you a helping hand?
• When have you been frustrated/disappointed with the process?
• What is your favourite phase of a project?
• What one change would you make to this work, to improve the outcome?

We have several participant responses in hand now and will post them as mentioned above. Since our internal list is nearly five hundred contract administrators, we won't run out any time soon.
